Let the Work Begin!
Roll up the sleeves and get down and dirty.
I stripped this tub to the bone. Good thing was that there was no rot.
Good stringers, solid structure.
When I bought the boat, the engine would only turn over about 355 deg. Dropped valve or worse, right? Well I located a crate motor replacement before my first offer and had it ordered just after bringing the boat home. Well when I removed the old motor and separated the Velvet Drive unit, I found an old piece of a starter gear that was lodged in the flex plate gear. After removing the piece, it turned over fully.
Well, I wanted a new boat heart anyway.
MAN! What a mess. It sure didn't look that bad with the engine still installed. Lots of cleaning was ahead and searching on the internet for replacement parts.
